United Truck Bodies was started in 1953 by legendary work truck pioneer, Jack Podlesak. He started providing the utility and telephone industry with his utility bodies to provide security and cost savings. Under Jack’s stewardship, the company grew to three locations providing the highest quality utility bodies, cranes and digger derricks to the utility industry.

Jack retired from the business in 1989 at which time, former employees lead by Norm Rose, purchased the company. Norm led the company until his retirement in 2006 at which time all manufacturing facilities were relocated to its present home in Phoenix, Arizona.

United Truck Bodies has over 50 years of design, engineering, and production experience assures customer satisfaction and we continue to provide a standard for the industry. UTB is led today with an experienced team of truck equipment veterans who have continued to grow and expand the company in the tradition of Mr. Podlesak, who required that each body was “Built to Work…Built to Last!”



UTB has expanded American manufacturing capabilities to include enclosed service bodies dump bodies, flatbeds and complete custom builds. Our distributors are in 7 states including Arizona, California, Oregon, Utah, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas.
